Otherside Whiskey Puts India on the World Whisky Map
By Aryeman Raj
India’s whisky story just got bolder. Otherside Subcontinental Whiskey, from Third Eye Distillery, has clinched a Gold Medal at the World Whisky Masters 2025, a first for any Indian non–single malt in the competition’s history.
Launched
earlier this year, Otherside is crafted entirely in India — 100% Indian-aged
malts, matured in the country’s tropical heat and finished in charred
ex-bourbon barrels via the Solera process. The result? A robust, gently peated
dram that’s unapologetically rooted in its provenance.
“For
decades, Indian whisky has echoed Scotch-inspired styles,” said Rahul Mehra,
Co-Founder & CEO. “Otherside is our answer to what Indian whisky can be
— shaped by our climate, our terrain, and our creative spirit. To see that
vision recognised globally is deeply rewarding.”
Third Eye Distillery — the makers of Stranger & Sons Gin — has a history of breaking category norms, with multiple global awards to its name. With Otherside, they’re not just entering the whisky space; they’re reshaping the conversation.
Currently
available in Mumbai and Goa, Otherside’s rollout to more cities signals the
start of a new chapter for Indian whisky — one that the world is now watching.
